School Day and Collection
Clear arrival and collection arrangements help us keep children safe and ensure that each day begins and ends calmly.
Group or session | Arrival | Collection |
Nursery morning session | 8.30am | 11.30am or 12.30pm |
Nursery afternoon session | 12.30pm | 2.30pm or 3.30pm |
Reception Year 1 and Year 2 | 8.40am | 3.10pm |
Nursery collection times depend on the session booked for your child. Please follow the arrangements confirmed by the Nursery.
Children enter the Reception classrooms from the playground. Staff open the classroom doors at 8.40am.
Children line up in the main playground at the beginning of the day. When the bell rings, staff lead them into their classrooms.
Staff are available at the beginning of the day to welcome children and receive brief messages. If you need a longer or private conversation, please contact the school office to arrange an appropriate time.
Children arriving after the classroom doors have closed must be brought to the main office by a parent or carer and signed in. The reason for lateness will be recorded. If you are experiencing difficulties arriving on time, please speak to us so that we can offer support.
For everyone’s safety, parents and carers must not use the school driveway to drop off or collect children, including for clubs and events. If you require vehicle access because of a disability, medical need or another exceptional circumstance, please contact the school office in advance.
All visitors must enter through the main entrance, sign in and wear a visitor badge throughout their visit.
Please do not use mobile phones on the school site. Putting phones away helps protect children’s privacy and allows everyone to focus on children at arrival and collection times.
Reception children are collected from their classroom doors. Year 1 and Year 2 children are collected from their external classroom doors. Adults who regularly collect a child must be named on the child’s personal record. Families will also be asked to provide a collection password. We will release a child only to an authorised adult whom we are expecting.
If someone different will collect your child, tell the school office in writing as early as possible. Please provide your child’s name and class, the collector’s name and relationship to the child, and confirmation that they know the collection password.
Messages passed informally through another parent or child cannot be accepted. If we cannot verify an arrangement, we will keep the child safely at school while we contact a parent or carer.
Young people under the age of 16 are not permitted to collect a child from the Nursery.
If you expect to be late, please telephone the school office immediately. Children who have not been collected will remain supervised while we try to contact their parents, carers or emergency contacts. The school’s late-collection procedure will be followed where necessary. Persistent late collection may be discussed with parents and carers so that appropriate support and safe arrangements can be agreed.
Collection arrangements for clubs and other activities may differ from normal end-of-day arrangements. Details will be provided when places are confirmed. Please ensure that the school knows who will collect your child and that the collecting adult arrives promptly at the stated finishing time.
We will always aim to keep the school open. However, severe weather, loss of essential services or another emergency may make closure unavoidable.
