Sports Premium

Primary school sport is set to be improved further with additional funding from the Government.  This funding will help to improve teaching and coaching for the youngest pupils and inspire the Olympic and Paralympic stars of the future.

London 2012 gave Britain a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire a nation to enjoy sport and the Government wants to embed that into the school day from an early age. This was followed up with a hugely successful 2016 Games in Rio, clearly showing that we are producing inspirational athletes who can compete with the world's best!

The sports funding aims to improve the quality of provision in every state primary school in England. We are delighted that the Government has guaranteed the increased amount of funding for schools, meaning there will be more opportunities than ever to help to support and develop our next generation of athletes.

This means at Hobletts Manor Infants' and Nursery School we will get:

  • £10 per pupil on roll as well as a 'lump sum' of £16,000. This will be paid in two parts; 7/12 of the funding will come through in October with the final 5/12 being paid in April.
  • This funding can only to be spent on sport and we will make decisions on how best to use the funding to suit the needs of our children.

  • This will include specialist coaching and support to develop our teaching skills further as well as additional sports opportunities for our children.

  • We will also be looking into maximising 'active minutes' in school, resulting in more structured activities during lunchtimes as well as encouraging children's activity levels travelling to and from school.
